VIEW COURSE
There are more than 115 million VDTs in use in the United States and Canada today. There are hazards involved in working with VDTs. Working every day at your terminal can be causing physical problems if you don't do it correctly.

1003i Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

VIEW COURSE
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is a common condition that can hinder your hand movements and cause a great deal of pain. It occurs when too much pressure is put on the median nerve that runs through your wrist.

Topics included in this safety video are causes of CTS including previous dislocation or fracture of the wrist, fluid retention, aging, repetitive movements, preventing Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, wrist splint, medication, and carpal tunnel release.

1009i Hand and Wrist Injuries

VIEW COURSE
This program is designed to show you what you can do to prevent injury and what to do just in case an accident occurs. Now before we go any further, it's important to take a quick look at the structure of your hand and wrist. This will help you to understand the types of injuries we'll discuss later. Altogether there are 27 different bones in your hand and wrist. The bones are surrounded and tied together by muscles, ligaments, and tendons. Ligaments are strong, fibrous bands of tissue that serve to stabilize joints and prevent damage by limiting side movements of joints. Tendons permit flexibility. When a muscle contracts, the tendons lift or curl the fingers. All of these working together enable your hand to perform some remarkable things, including grasping and the ability to pick up small objects with your thumb and index finger.

Topics included in this safety video are wrist fractures, hand and finger fractures, hand sprains, fingertip injuries, lacerations, nerve compression, fractures, sprains, and Black Nail.

1029i Ergonomics

VIEW COURSE
Let's take a look at the four major elements of an effective ergonomics program. Keep in mind your program will never be completed because ergonomics requires a continuing effort.

Topics included in this safety video are worksite analysis, hazard prevention and control, medical management system, and training and education for employees.

1031i Employee Involvement In Ergonomics

VIEW COURSE
While CTDs or Cumulative Trauma Disorders are a medical disorder and treated as such, ergonomics, the fit between people and their tools and workplaces, represents an important ingredient in treatment and prevention. The bottom line is that ergonomic approaches to CTDs can be viewed simply as good management. Documented evidence supports claims that ergonomic solutions are clearly cost-effective because of increased productivity and work output.

Topics included in this safety video are repetitive strain injury or RSI, check your posture, stretching, rotating, shaking, reaching, rolling, shifting, vision discomfort, veiling glare, and back disorders.

1044i Ergonomics 2000

VIEW COURSE
In this short training program, we're going to discuss only one part of a good Safety program. It's called Ergonomics. Ergonomics is nothing new, but there have been a number of improvements and advancements in the study of ergonomics recently. Topics included in this safety video are: ergonomic basics - science of arranging and adjusting the work environment to fit the employee's body, human error, proper posture, carpal tunnel syndrome, why RSI occurred only recently?, computer workstation, exercises (Shoulder Blade Squeeze, Eye Palming technique, Arm and Shoulder Shake, Spanning), and a safety program.
